Delivering Against the Odds

Delivering Against the Odds

Supplying Two Open Diesel Generator Sets to Bangladesh During the Christmas Shutdown

Delivering power solutions on time is always a priority, but when projects fall across the Christmas shutdown period, the challenge increases significantly. Over the festive period, our team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure two open diesel generator sets, powered by Doosan and Perkins engines, were completed and shipped to Bangladesh as quickly as possible.

Factory shutdowns across the supply chain are an unavoidable reality at this time of year. Engine manufacturers, alternator suppliers, logistics partners and freight forwarders all operate with reduced capacity or temporary closures. Despite this, our team remained focused on coordinating every moving part to keep the project progressing.

Managing Global Supply Chains and Logistics Delays

These generator sets were built using engines sourced from the United States and Korea and alternators manufactured in Europe. Coordinating international components across multiple regions is complex at the best of times. During the Christmas period, this complexity increases, with limited production windows, restricted transport availability and extended lead times becoming the norm.

As the project moved forward, almost every possible curveball made an appearance. Transport delays caused by winter weather, limited shipping slots and congestion at ports all put pressure on the original schedule. Each delay required quick decision making, constant communication and careful replanning to minimise impact on the customer’s delivery timeline.

Delivering Reliable Power Despite Seasonal Disruption

Our team worked through the factory shutdowns to maintain momentum wherever possible. While some elements were out of our control, we focused on what we could manage, staying in close contact with suppliers, monitoring transport routes daily and adjusting plans as conditions changed. The exceptional relationship we have with our suppliers combined with a proactive approach allowed us to keep the project moving when it could easily have stalled.

Meeting customer demands is not always about perfect conditions. More often, it is about experience, persistence and the ability to adapt when challenges arise. Projects like this highlight the reality of global generator supply, where components are sourced internationally and logistics can be affected by factors far beyond a single factory floor.

Despite the challenges, both open generator sets were completed to specification and prepared for shipment, ensuring our customer in Bangladesh received a reliable power solution built to perform in demanding conditions.

This project is a strong example of our commitment to delivering for our customers, even during the most challenging periods of the year. Christmas shutdowns, international logistics and unpredictable weather are part of the industry, but with the right team, incredible relationships and the right approach, deadlines can still be met.
